A Novel Technique to Assess Agile Systems for Stability

Abstract Agile systems, like the Kanban and Scrum frameworks, are built on assumptions of sustainability stability, however, there is little empirical evidence whether such systems stable in practice or not. Therefore, this study we aim to inspect stability by leveraging concept described Queueing Theory. We define a novel metric, Stability Metric, as way assessing queueing especially systems. 926 Jira projects 14 organizations with over 1.6 million product backlog items using metric. The analysis showed that 72.89% these were not average, had sizes 10 times shorter than unstable ones.
